Iya Terra is a Los Angeles, California-based American roots reggae and dub band. Iya Terra was founded in 2012 by vocalist and lead guitarist Nathan Feinstein and long-time friend and bassist Nick Loporchio, who chose the name “Higher Ground” as the band’s name. Both began their musical careers in the summer of 2013 while jamming together on the UCLA campus. In the spring of 2014, the duo expanded their band by adding Luis Tovar on the keyboard and Danny Monar on percussion. The band recorded its first raw album with the new members, a 6-song self-titled EP that was released in the spring of 2014.

That same year, they were also set to support Iration on their Heatseekers spring tour. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, both tours were canceled. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the group instead performed as part of the “Cali Roots: Can’t Stop The Music An Online Music Festival Experience,” despite having initially announced their participation in the 2020 California Roots Music and Arts Festival before it was canceled.
